Preparing To End The Term SUCCESSFULY!

Hello All,

I hope everyone was able to enjoy the sunshine while it was out this weekend.  Most of our success team and many members of ASUCC were in Portland attending the student leadership conference.  I am eager to find out about all of the great concepts and ideas that the team learned during this weekend's event.

Terrance and I will be attending the NADE 2014 conference during all of next week, March 3rd through March 9th.  NADE is the organization that we are coordinating with to get the Success Center nationally certified.  If you need to get in touch with me I will be checking my email or you can also leave a message on my cell phone and I will get back to you after I am done with the conference for that day.

We will need everyone to recreate their BlackBoard accounts due to our whole system having to be reset. There will be an email in your student accounts from "no-reply" that you will need to open and follow the directions to create an account again just as you did last time.  I apologize for this inconvenience and greatly appreciate all of your patience with getting this resource available for our student body.

Students eligible for advanced registration are now able to sign up for Spring term courses.  I encourage everyone to get signed up for the courses that they need for Spring term as soon as possible before classes get filled.  I have placed availability sheets for next term in each employee's box.  Please fill this form out as soon as possible after getting signed up for classes.  I will need to receive your availability sheet prior to March 14th, otherwise I will have to fit your hours in around the schedule that is already made possibly limiting the total number of hours that you receive.  I will be creating and posting schedules to the website during finals week this term.

Crunch Time!

Hello,

The last half of Winter term is here and it is easy to get stressed out about the idea of your courses coming to an end. During this time of the term especially it is likely that you are worrying about getting your homework turned in while balancing class projects.  Even if you are not having these feelings yourself there is a good chance that some of your classmates are.  This is a perfect opportunity to take some time and remember why you are here at UCC.  Moments like this are what separate those who truly want to achieve success from those who are here just to get by for awhile.  Success is typically not easy. However, the more work and effort that you put into it the greater the reward is in the end.  As we finish up these last few weeks, I ask that you not only find what motivates you to continue fighting for success but that you also encourage others to do the same.

“Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

We will be adding four new faces to the success team: Michelle Raygoza, Kasey Barrackman, Tanner Mecham, and Mariah Wade.  If you see a new face behind the desk in the Success Center please take some time to introduce yourself and welcome them to our team.

There are many encouraging conversations and comments happening around campus and our community as to how important the services are that the Success Center provide. These services promote great success to our student body and to the future of our community.  I am excited to hear from the students that we serve, that we are going above and beyond their expectations.  I personally get great satisfaction from hearing these great things from our student body and I want to thank all of the employee's in the Success Center for creating a positive and supportive environment for our students to grow.  Keep up all the great work!
